You’ve spent a wonderful day with your young grandchild, and now, sadly, it is time for them to go home. For most of us gung ho grandmas, that normally consists of a hug, a kiss, and a wave from the door as we say, “Good-bye.”
One fun idea to make the parting a little more memorable, is to use these adorable animal good-byes (I used them all the time when I taught grade 3). I had a poster of them by the classroom door and said a different one each time my students left to go home (which you could also do). Or you could always use the same one whenever you are saying good-bye, so it becomes a special, predictable thing just between grandma and grandchild.
So, choose one you really like, and give it a try. Parting doesn’t always have to be “such sweet sorrow” … it can just be sweet.
Which of these sayings would you use? I think I am going to use “too-da-loo, kangroo.” Do you have a special way to say good-bye to your grandchild? Please leave a comment below.
And if you like the idea of having a fun way to say good-bye, please share it with other grandmas!

These are so fun Melonee, I am going to try some. I had read my granddaughter a book about Eskimos and when we say goodbye we touch noses and call it our Eskimo kiss. I think I will add one of these cute sayings to our goodbye ritual. Thanks for all the fun ideas.
I love the idea of Eskimo kisses .. gotta try that one, too!
Loved your goodbyes. I really liked goodbye butterfly. Used it when my granddaughter left to go back home yesterday. She looked a little surprised but rewarded me with a great smile
So happy to hear that your granddaughter liked it Marian. .. it is nice to make life just a little sweeter!
